HBM Engineering Served as a sub-consultant to TranSystems for the I-80 Larkin Avenue Interchange /I-80 Houbolt Road to West of Center Street Reconstruction and Interchange Enhancement Project.
Mainline Contract No. 3 (ML-3) – I-80: Houbolt Road to West of Center Street
HBM Engineering Group completed Phase II Engineering Services for the reconstruction of I-80 from Houbolt Road to west of Center Street (ML-3). Covering approximately 4.4 miles, this project is strategically designed to address critical infrastructure needs and seamlessly integrate with the City of Joliet’s Houbolt Road improvements.
- Bridge reconstruction and rehabilitation at key locations, ensuring enhanced functionality and longevity.
- EB and WB I-80 over Houbolt Road – Bridge Widening and Rehabilitation
- EB and WB I-80 over Joliet Junction Trail – Bridge Replacement

Interchange Contract No. 2 (INT-2) – Larkin Avenue Interchange at I-80
Phase II Engineering Services included the reconstruction of the Larkin Avenue Interchange at I-80 (INT-2). This project is a critical component in optimizing this portion of the system.

HBM’s Scope:
Mainline Contract No. 3 (ML-3) – I-80: Houbolt Road to West of Center Street
HBM Engineering’s portion was development of noise wall and sign structure plans for the mainline contract. Our approach encompassed roadway reconstruction, drainage, culvert replacement, retaining wall construction, utility coordination, traffic control and protection, signing, and pavement markings. Our commitment to excellence is reflected in Phase II engineering services including preparation of contract plans, special provisions, and estimates.
Interchange Contract No. 2 (INT-2) – Larkin Avenue Interchange at I-80
Our expertise extended to the development of noise walls and sign structure plans for the interchange contract. Collaborative efforts encompass ramp reconstruction, drainage, culvert replacement, retaining wall construction, utility coordination, traffic control and protection, signing, and pavement markings. Phase II engineering services also included preparing contract plans, special provisions, and estimates.
